Treatment of restless leg syndrome Beaver
There are many symptoms of varicose and spider veins. Signs that say you should seek treatment. Restless leg syndrome is probably the most annoying.
An urge you can’t resist to move your leg
Uncomfortable sensations cause patients to need to move their legs.
Some words used to describe these sensations include creeping, itching, pulling, creepy-crawly, tugging, or gnawing.
It may be hard to fall asleep or stay asleep because of the feelings in your legs
A substantial number of people who have RLS also have periodic limb movements in sleep (PLMS). PLMS are repetitive movements that occur every 20 to 30 seconds on and off throughout the night and can cause partial awakenings that disrupt sleep.
If you feel like these symptoms or others make it hard to fall or stay asleep, you’re not alone—it’s often one of the chief complaints among people with restless legs syndrome.
When you move your legs your symptoms are alleviated
If the uncomfortable sensations go away when you move your legs, it’s another sign of RLS.
The relief can be complete or only partial but generally starts very soon after starting an activity. Relief persists as long as the movement continues.
While resting, symptoms start or get worse
The longer you are at rest, the greater the chance the symptoms will occur and the more severe they are likely to be.
Symptoms are worse in the evening, especially when lying down
Symptoms worsening in the evening is another one of the criteria necessary for an RLS diagnosis.
If your symptoms aren’t worse at night, it may not be RLS. Some people with RLS, however, can have severe daytime symptoms too.
Because some foods that may be causing or worsening the problem, avoid:
- review all medications you are taking with your doctor to determine if any of these drugs could be causing the problem.
Underlying medical conditions that aggravate restless legs:
- varicose veins
- nutritional deficiencies
- kidney disease
- thyroid disease
- Parkinson’s disease
These should be treated. Dietary supplements to correct vitamin or mineral deficiency may be recommended. For some people, these treatments are all that is needed to relieve RLS symptoms.
Can Home Remedies Help You With Restless Leg Syndrome
If your RLS symptoms aren’t serious then, Yes!
There are many home remedies that can help you sleep peacefully but if only your case is mild, if it’s serious, or if you are suffering from it for a long time then you should seek medical help.
People with mild symptoms of RLS can use these remedies:
1. Creating a Healthy Sleep Schedule
Planning a schedule for sleeping may sound useless when you are suffering from this kind of problem but it’s not the truth!
Adapting some habits can drastically change the quality of your sleep, if you are wondering what are those habits then here are some of them:
• Going to bed every day at the same time
Going to bed every day at the same time is a great way to fall asleep easily.
Because our body has an internal clock that creates a schedule if we perform some specific activities daily at the same time.
So if you start sleeping at the same time then every day, the internal clock will know when to induce sleep which will help you sleep really easily.
• Keeping Screen Device Away Before You Go To Sleep
Devices such as laptops, phones, computers, and TV emit blue lights that can make it harder for you to fall asleep and this can result in restless sleep as well.
2. Exercise Regularly
Exercise may not sound like a good idea when you are suffering from RLS but its not the truth, many people find exercises so helpful to relieve mild RLS symptoms.
They can help you improve blood circulation which may improve some symptoms.
You can try exercises like walking, cycling and swimming but vigorous exercises can make your symptoms worse, so you must be careful while exercising.
